Reliable metering pump operation depends on routine inspection and correct maintenance. Abnormal flow, pressure fluctuation or leakage can usually be traced quickly through a few common checks.
Check valves and piping
Sticking suction or discharge check valves, leaking piping or a blocked filter all affect suction and discharge. First check valve operation, line tightness and filter condition.
Watch the Diaphragm and Seals
Diaphragm ageing and seal wear cause inaccurate metering or leakage. Set replacement intervals based on the medium and operating hours, and keep spares in stock.
Keep the hydraulic system in good order
For hydraulic diaphragm pumps, check the hydraulic oil level, oil condition and venting status; top up or change the hydraulic oil as described in the manual.
Log operating parameters
Record flow rate, pressure, current and chemical consumption regularly to spot trends early and avoid unexpected downtime.
